New CEO: Dr. Xolelwa Zulu-Magwenyane

The Female Academic Leaders Fellowship (FALF) enters a new chapter of growth and impact, announcing renewed leadership and two pioneering Research Chairs to advance gender equality, inclusion, and innovation in South Africa.

Effective 1 September 2025, Dr. Xolelwa Zulu-Magwenyane assumes the role of FALF CEO. A scientist and innovation leader with a PhD in Chemistry and an MSc in Technology and Innovation Management, she brings deep experience in STEAM, women’s empowerment, and research investments and collaborations.

“The participation of Black women in science and leadership is a non-negotiable essential for progress and an equitable society,” says Dr. Zulu-Magwenyane.

FALF Founder and Chairperson, Dr. Judy Dlamini, adds:

“Dr. Xolelwa could not have come at a better time. Her passion and energy are infectious, and we are excited about the next phase of FALF’s journey.”
