FALF Awards are open to all Fellows regardless of academic rank.
Below are the possible criteria for submission and awarding of FALF awards. The information and data submitted should correspond to the duration of the Fellowship. The criteria have not been weighted to accommodate the diversity of the candidates. This is particularly important for fellows at the beginning of their academic career who have been granted a fellowship to pursue their doctoral studies. In this regard, the criteria marked with an * are suggested as being more appropriate for this cohort of fellows.
FALF seeks to develop a pipeline of South African, African and Africans of mixed ancestry female academic leaders in tertiary institutions (Chancellor’s Fellows).
This initiative was informed by the slow racial and gender transformation at leadership level in tertiary institutions nationally, especially when it comes to black females.
